Overcoming the Seemingly Impossible and Negotiating the Non-Negotiable in Mediation

How many times have you heard parties say at the outset of a mediation that their matter will probably not settle, that they hold out little or no hope for a resolution of the issues and that from their perspective their matters seem to be non-negotiable? These conflicts are often so complex and powerful to the parties that they have been controlling their lives and they cannot see a way forward. All approaches to date to resolve the conflicts have been unsuccessful.
